Rome: Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Public Security and Save The Children ETS

On December 11th, at 10.00 am Rome, At the Save The Children ETS headquarters, in Piazza San Francesco di Paola 9, the Chief of Police – General Director of Public Security – Prefect Vittorio PISANI , General Director of Save the Children ETS Dr. Daniela Fatarella have a new Memorandum of Understanding signed.

The previous Protocol, signed in 2020 and aimed at a profitable collaboration relationship between the parties for the implementation of initiatives aimed at promote and support the correct use of the Web by children and adolescents, will see an extension of the scope of application in order to increase action to combat crimes of sexual exploitation of minors, including online, as well as a correct one application of procedures for the protection of minors of any nationality who are victims of abuse.

“The great work carried out in the protection of minors thanks to the constant collaborative relationship between the State Police and Save the Children and the significant results achieved have led to the signing of a single Protocol involving all the branches of the Department of Public Security – declared the Chief of Police PISANI – The aim is to strengthen the action to combat crimes of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, the implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting the correct use of the Web, as well as the support and assistance of minors of any nationality who are victims of exploitation and crimes.”

"To protect girls and boys and safeguard their rights, a joint action that responsibly involves institutions and civil society is crucial. This is why we believe the long-standing collaboration we have with the State Police is fundamental. We are particularly happy today to sign this new protocol, as it encompasses in a much broader way the many areas of work that see us together to prevent and combat abuse against girls, boys and adolescents, even in the digital environment," he declared. Daniela Fatarella, Director General of Save the Children – By systematizing our respective skills, together with the study and analysis of scenario data, we are making significant steps forward to identify and implement specific actions with a real impact on the lives of many minors. Similarly, sharing awareness-raising and training activities proves to be the right way to have a positive and effective contamination in priority areas such as the protection of minors of any nationality who are victims of abuse”.

In addition to Central Directorate for Scientific Police and Cyber ​​Security, the departmental branches concerned with the aspects of specific competence (Central Directorate for Criminal Police, Central Anti-Crime Directorate of the State Police and Central Directorate for Immigration and Border Police) were involved in drafting the final plan.
