Rome, unauthorized access to computer systems: former ASL employee investigated
State Police investigators belonging to the Postal Police and Cyber Security carried out a house search order e computer science issued by the Court of Rome a charge of a person considered responsible for the unauthorized access to the IT systems of the Local Health Authority Roma 1, occurred last November.
The CNAIPIC policemen – National Cyber Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures of the Postal Police - also thanks to the sophisticated software supplied, have reconstructed the phases of the attack, consisted in illicit disclosure by the subject, former employee, with server administration and control credentials of the largest ASL in Italy, with the aim of preparing subsequent impactful cyber attacks.
The timeliness of the police operation made it possible to find a personal computer within which A file containing login credentials was found and computer system configurations of the ASL Roma, as well as all the electronic equipment used for the attack. The subsequent and careful technical analysis of the vehicles confirmed the investigative hypothesis.
Il fact would be linked to retaliation against the company where the man had been employed for years as a computer scientist.
It is specified that the home and computer search order was carried out in the current phase of the preliminary investigations and is based on provisional charges which will in any case have to be confirmed in the hearing and in subsequent levels of judgement. The criminal responsibility of the suspect will be ascertained only at the outcome of the trial with an irrevocable sentence.
