Rome, a burial area at the Flaminio Cemetery handed over to the progressive Jewish community

"With today's signature - comments Councilor Sabrina Alfonsi - we remain faithful to the commitment made a few months ago towards the Beth Hillel Community."

Rome, a burial area at the Flaminio Cemetery was handed over to the progressive Jewish community.

It took place yesterday morning, in the presence of the Councilor for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle of Rome Capital, Sabrina Alfonsi, and the President of the Jewish Community “Beth Hillel”, Daniela Gean, signing of the protocol for the delivery of the cemetery area used for the burial of members of the progressive Judaism movement.

The area in question, approximately 300 mXNUMX, was identified by Rome Capital at the Flaminio Cemetery, in compliance with the provisions of the Memorandum of the Capitoline Council n.52/2023 and the Cemetery Police Regulations, which provides for the possibility of establishing additional special departments for the burial of persons who profess religions other than the Catholic one, who do not profess any religion or who belong to foreign communities.

"We thank the Capitoline Administration for this step forward in recognizing the needs of the Community. We are very happy to have achieved this result: in this way we too will have the opportunity to guarantee a dignified burial for all the people who otherwise would not have had a recognized place where they could rest in peace." said Progressive Jewish Community President Daniela Gean, on the sidelines of the signing of the agreement.

"With today's signature - comments Councilor Sabrina Alfonsiwe are keeping faith with the commitment we made a few months ago to the Beth Hillel Community. As part of a more general plan to redevelop our Cemeteries, we are working towards ensuring that every community that requests it has a space for the burial of its members. Recognizing differences as an opportunity and not as a problem is the true cultural turning point that we want to implement, and concrete actions like the one taken today contribute to making it alive, proving that Rome is an inclusive city".
