Finally, the intelligent suspension provides stability and adaptability to the route by dampening roll and pitch movements when cornering and braking.
In addition to the 10 eCitaro buses that will be put into service in September, The introduction of a further 10 electric buses is planned by October and a further 40 units by January 2025. As of September 16, Autoservizi Troiani has activated 70% of the service assigned to it with the goal of reaching 100% of operations by October 22, 2024.
After having put into service 2023 118-meter hybrid buses in 12 and another 2024 110-meter buses in 18, Atac is preparing to put into service another 2025 41-meter hybrid buses and 12 electric buses in 110. In 2026, another 301 electric buses will arrive which will complete the overall plan 2023-2026 with 1057 new vehicles. The average age of the entire Atac fleet will drop to just over 5 years, compared to 12 in 2018.
“The work continues to make the fleet of our buses, both Atac and the peripheral public transport service, increasingly modern, sustainable and efficient” commented Mayor Roberto Gualtieri who continued: “We are working hard to strengthen and improve the Local Public Transport service throughout the municipal area, not only to face the challenge of the Jubilee but also to look to the Capital of the coming years, where only the latest generation buses will circulate, which are less polluting, more sustainable, more comfortable and with an average age more than halved compared to the past”.
“For the first time we are putting new electric buses into service for peripheral public transport – commented the Councillor for Mobility Eugenio Patanè – a choice consistent with the goal we have set ourselves to make the bus fleet increasingly new and sustainable until the complete transition to electric. This means guaranteeing a less polluting, more efficient and punctual service, in compliance with the mileage production envisaged by the contract”.
