Rome: 48,5 kilos of cocaine seized and a 29-year-old and a 26-year-old arrested.
I'm almost 50 kilos of cocaine seized by the State Police in an operation conducted in Mostacciano, the western outskirts of the capital.
The investigators of the Roman Flying Squad, during their activities, carried out a stakeout in a building in Mostacciano where it had been hypothesized that one of the boxes could be used to store narcotics.
The intuition turned out to be right: the policemen saw a man and a woman arriving in a minivan who, after opening a garage, took some packages. The intervention of the officers was immediate; in the garage there was a wardrobe inside which 33 packs of cocaine were crammed; instead the packages that the couple had taken had been hidden in a secret compartment in the car. In the car 1.200 euros in cash were also found. The investigators then carried out a series of searches and in one of the homes used by the two, more than 2 thousand euros in banknotes of various denominations and the material commonly used for disposing of narcotics were seized.
In total the cocaine seized was found to be 48,5 kg gross while the money is just under 100 thousand euros.
At the end of the ritual checks, the 2 arrested people, both Italian, i.e. a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were arrested because they were seriously suspected of detention for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances and placed at the disposal of the Judiciary.
The Rome Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained validation of the arrest from the Preliminary Investigation Judge.
