Palazzo Chigi: Meeting between Giorgia Meloni and Ursula von der Leyen on EU Priorities.

Il President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen for an initial exchange of views after the installation of the new European Executive.

At the centre of the conversation were the Action priorities of the new EU institutional cycle, starting from the relaunch of the role and competitiveness of the European Union in the world. In this regard, President Meloni focused in particular on the prospects of the automotive sector in the context of the environmental transition process and on the strong concerns of the national agricultural sector in the context of theEU-Mercosur Agreement.

Particular attention was also paid to the European migration policy, taking stock of the results achieved and what still remains to be done to have effective tools for managing the migratory phenomenon.

The two leaders agreed to further strengthen collaboration and complementarity between Italian Mattei Plan for Africa , European Global Gateway strategy.
