Borgo (RM): anti-degradation services, over 170 people identified, administrative sanctions for 6000 euros and a European Arrest Warrant executed for aggravated theft
The extraordinary control services on the territory of the Capital continue: the agents of the Borgo Police Station have carried out some anti-degradation services, during which over 170 people were identified and high administrative sanctions were issued for a total of 6000 euros. A 53-year-old Bulgarian was also arrested by the police of the Vatican Inspectorate, with a European arrest warrant against him for the crime of aggravated theft.

The extraordinary control services continue throughout the Capital, coordinated and planned by the Rome Police Headquarters in the Vatican area, as part of a project that aims to restore legality and urban decorum, as well as the prevention and repression of crimes for the Jubilee event that affects the city of Rome.
The operations coordinated by the agents of the State Police of the Borgo police station and the Vatican Inspectorate, assisted by the dog handlers of the UPGSP, and personnel of the Local Police of Rome Capital - I Group "Prati", NAE and anti-illegal activities, have carried out an extraordinary service of territorial control aimed at anti-degradation and anti-illegal commercial activity in the Vatican area.
Yet, a cleanup and sanitation operation was carried out, edited by AMA staff of the Municipality of Rome, of some areas, characterised by the presence of homeless people, with the removal of numerous abandoned household goods in Via della Conciliazione, Largo del Colonnato, Via dei Corridori, Piazza della città Leonina, Via Paolo VI, Borgo Santo Spirito. The itinerant service of the Social Operations Room also provided guidance and support to 24 people in need intercepted in the area, 3 of whom accepted shelter at the facility in via Tiburtina.
The agents of the Vatican Inspectorate checked some people who were hanging around the San Martino baths, identifying four of them. Among them, a citizen of Bulgarian origins, who had been wanted since November 2024 by the Bulgarian authorities. The man was the recipient of a European arrest warrant for aggravated theft. Therefore, the 53-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested in execution of the provision and associated with the Regina Coeli prison. He will have to serve a sentence of 2 years and 3 months.
A widespread anti-illegal activity It was also carried out in Piazza del Sant'Uffizio, Piazza Pio XII, Via della Conciliazione, Via di Porta Angelica, Piazza Pia and Borgo Pio during which nine people were identified and administratively sanctioned for selling goods in the non-food sector without the required administrative authorizations, including one for transporting goods in the non-food sector for the purpose of selling them without the required administrative authorizations for a total of 6000 euros. Six were, instead, administrative sanctions for abusive tourist promotion.
A total of 170 people were identified, 57 of whom were homeless: 9 of them were contacted by specialists from the Social Operations Room. 10 foreigners were accompanied to the police stations to verify their position on the national territory, 2 of whom were found to be irregular. One of them was found to have been hit by an expulsion order with an invitation to leave the national territory within seven days. 11 removal orders and 17 administrative seizures were adopted for illegal sale of goods. Particular attention was paid to illegal activity in public transport: 28 vehicles including Taxis and NCCs were checked, 35 administrative sanctions were imposed and 2 vehicles were subject to administrative detention. 4 commercial establishments were checked, one of which was fined for failure to issue a receipt. Finally, an Italian citizen will be reported for compliance with the Dacur.
