Anzio, 14 illegally occupied houses cleared: Apartments sealed and made safe

Operations have been launched that have allowed the restoration of ownership rights to 14 housing units that had been illegally occupied in Corso Italia for some time. The clearing activity, in implementation of what was planned by order of the Police Chief of Rome, involved agents of the State Police, the Carabinieri and the Local Police under the coordination of the Director of the Anzio Police Station.

The execution of a preventive seizure order issued by the Judicial Authority for the recovery of spaces and buildings taken from private property by unauthorized occupants and, at the same time, to restore conditions of decorum and legality in a highly degraded area It was the input of the operations, also following the assessments adopted by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, chaired by the Prefect of Rome.

The 14 vacated apartments were sealed and made safe for re-entrustment to their rightful owners. Of the 15 individuals found inside the individual housing units, three were reported and discussions are underway on site with Social Services to evaluate alternative housing solutions. No critical issues regarding public order and safety were recorded during the operations.

For only one real estate unit it was necessary to remove the obstacles placed by the occupants. However, everyone was allowed to recover their personal effects, with an approach aimed at balancing the needs of legality with those related to the personal dimension of the people involved.

The area where the vacated apartments are located is located in a neighborhood of Anzio also known for crime, including drug dealing, on which front, with a concentric effort, the Police have recently intervened with arrests that have brought dozens of pushers to justice. This operation confirms the spotlight on the critical issues of the territory, with attention paid to every form of crime, and in synergy with all institutions.
