Airshow for the 100th anniversary of the Air Force. The presence of Sergio Mattarella
“An exciting day today at the air show for the centenary of the Air Force. One of the many initiatives that will accompany the whole of 2023 to celebrate the first 100 years of the Italian Army. Not just a unique and extraordinary Airshow but much more, for the many performances of historic aircraft as well as ultra-modern aircraft and the aerobatic show of the Frecce Tricolori. A wonderful celebration that attracted thousands of visitors who saw our Air Force in all its nuances and uses", are the words of the Undersecretary of Defense, Senator Isabella Rauti, present yesterday at the event for i 100 of the Air Force at the “Mario De Bernardi” airport in Pratica di Mare (Rm) with the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto.
The president of the Republic Sergio Mattarella arrived at Pratica Militare airport together with Defense Minister Guido Crosetto to attend the air show on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the Air Force.
At Pratica di Mare it was a Sunday afternoon of displays of aircraft from the past and present, thematic areas, historical re-enactments, experiential areas and the acrobatic show of the Frecce Tricolori.
Adults and children were able to experience the Blue Army in all its nuances, retracing the evolution of the aerial instrument up to the aerospace dimension.
Exhibitions of aircraft that have made the history of military aviation, from the Caproni Ca.3 to the G-91, passing through the TF-104, a flyover of the formation that will draw the number 100 in the sky, and a breathtaking finale, the traditional show acrobatic of the Arrows.
It was possible to experience the thrill of flight thanks to playful simulators; live an immersive experience through a series of interactive paths; visit “Camp 100”, the area dedicated to historical re-enactment, created with aircraft and figures who will remember the exploits of the men and women in blue, from the birth of the Air Force up to today.
He also participated in the event as a pilot Dan Friedkin, president of AS Roma. A great airplane enthusiast, he flew with the Horsemen Flight Team, the only patrol in the world on P-51 Mustangs, an aircraft in service in the Air Force until 1960.
This American aircraft was also active on the European front to counter the German Luftwaffe planes. On the side there are a series of stickers with swastikas, which sparked questions on social media, because during the war a sticker was applied for every enemy, Nazi or plane shot down.
