In 2024, Rome has set its own historic record in tourism with 51,4 million presences and 22,2 million arrivals, marking a growth of +4,5% and +5,63% respectively compared to the previous year. This result is the fruit of a winning strategy that has focused on major cultural, sporting and musical events, improving the quality of the tourist offer and making the Capital increasingly attractive. Rome confirms itself as a global reference destination, ready to grow further.
Mayor Gualtieri: “A success in the name of quality, honoured: records are not coincidences, we can still improve”.
With 51,4 million presences and 22,2 million arrivals, Rome has established its own in 2024 historic tourism record. Compared to the record achieved in 2023, the Capital, as revealed by the numbers of the Lazio Bilateral Tourism Board, recorded +4,5% of presences and +5,63% of arrivals.
"Rome is increasingly the Capital of Tourism. This new record fills us with pride and confirms that we are going in the right direction. With major events, both cultural and sporting, we have given tourists of various age groups new reasons to visit Rome or return. We will continue on this path, further improving the quality of the tourist offer and enhancing the city, making it increasingly attractive and welcoming.” This is how he comments Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome.

"These records are not a coincidence. They are the result of precise work and of the new approach we have had right from the start, promoting major sporting, musical, cultural and fashion events. Now we must not be satisfied, because tourism is a resource: it generates economic benefits and new jobs. We can grow even more and improve the visitor experience, which must be increasingly compatible with the life of residents. We want to distribute tourist flows even outside the historic center of Rome, which boasts places and archaeological sites that are still little known but which alone would be worth a trip“. The words of Honored Alexander, Councillor for Sport, Tourism, Fashion and Major Events.
