Tor Tre Teste, a night of horror: a young woman raped in front of her boyfriend. Three foreigners arrested, investigation still open.

The night of October 25th turned into a nightmare for a young Roman couple who had secluded themselves in their car in the Tor Tre Teste park, on the eastern outskirts of the capital. What initially appeared to be a robbery turned into a brutal attack, culminating in the sexual assault of the woman, while her boyfriend was subdued by the group of assailants.

The sexual assault, which took place in a secluded and dark area of the park, deeply affected the victims, who were able to ask for help and contact the police immediately after the incident.

A month after the events, the Flying Squad executed an arrest warrant against three young people - two of Moroccan origin and one Tunisian - investigated for gang sexual violence e aggravated robberyThe investigation, coordinated by the Rome Prosecutor's Office, remains open to identify other possible members of the gang, which could consist of at least five people.

The intervention and the complaint

The woman was transferred to the Casilino Polyclinic, where she received medical attention and was able to tell doctors and officers what had happened. Her story, along with that of her boyfriend, allowed investigators to immediately begin their investigation. The Rome Flying Squad performed tests on the car, finding fingerprints that would help guide the investigation. The couple, despite being shaken by the incident, cooperated, providing details that proved crucial in identifying the initial suspects.

The three arrested and their identification

Within a few days, investigators managed to track down three young men, two in the Quarticciolo neighborhood and one in Verona. The three were arrested and transferred to prison on charges of aggravated robbery and gang rape. Their identification was made possible thanks to fingerprints found on the car and photo identification performed by the couple, who identified the three as part of the group responsible for the attack.

The DNA results and the trail of accomplices

Biological tests, however, revealed a new element. The genetic traces collected at the scene of the assault did not match those of the three arrested, including the young man identified by the victim as the actual perpetrator of the rape. This finding confirmed a suspicion already raised during initial testimonies: the group may have been larger. The victim had initially reported seeing up to five people around the car, although the shock and darkness made it difficult to distinguish them precisely.

Investigations underway

The Mobile Squad seized the phones of the three suspects, from which data, contacts, and movements will be extracted that could help reconstruct the network of relationships between the gang members. The three, when questioned, denied participating in the sexual assault and attributed responsibility to other, as yet unidentified, members. Their statements are now being examined by investigators. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor's Office continues to coordinate further investigations, aware that defining the roles and identifying the accomplices are essential to completing the picture. The hunt for possible accomplices remains a priority, especially since the victim's testimony and DNA results converge to indicate a larger gang.

A park already marked by episodes of violence

The attack in Tor Tre Teste is not an isolated incident. In recent months, the area has already hit the headlines for other incidents of violence, such as the attack on a woman while walking her dog at dawn. Incidents like this have contributed to a sense of insecurity among residents and have reignited debate about the state of the city's parks, which are often poorly lit and unsupervised at night.

The political reaction and the security debate

The issue has also attracted political attention, with several representatives urging the City Council to take swift action. The "Safe Parks" motion, already approved by the Chamber but still awaiting implementation, has returned to the forefront. The most frequent requests include increased video surveillance, improved lighting, and the creation of a dedicated local police unit to monitor the parks. The goal, according to its proponents, is to restore residents' ability to enjoy parks safely, preventing them from becoming breeding grounds for crime and assault.

The current situation

As the investigation continues, the young victim is receiving the psychological support she needs to cope with the trauma she suffered. She may be interviewed again in the coming days in a more stable condition, allowing her to provide further details to investigators. Her boyfriend, shaken by the incident, will also be interviewed again. Meanwhile, the three suspects remain in prison, while the search for their accomplices and the precise roles of each member of the group are ongoing. The night at Tor Tre Teste continues to raise disturbing questions about safety in Rome's suburbs, while the justice system attempts to precisely reconstruct each step of one of the most serious incidents of recent months.
