Rome: They stole at night from commercial establishments in the center. Placed under arrest by the State Police

When the agents of the State Police of the 1st District Trevi Campo Marzio, following in-depth investigations, they identified and stopped them near the Termini Station, 28 year old Tunisian and a Italian 49 years old, the two were still wearing the same clothes used to carry out their latest thefts in the centre of the capital.

In the previous days, the investigators, after having collected the complaints of some shopkeepers in the centre, for several thefts suffered during the night in their premises, immediately started the investigations, identifying the two arrested as the ones responsible for the aforementioned thefts.

In the month of December they had a good time four confirmed thefts committed by the couple against the shopkeepers in the centre who, when filing the complaint, provided the investigators with the recordings from the video surveillance systems, helping to crystallise the investigative framework.

From the investigations carried out it was possible to ascertain that, while the woman acted as a 'lookout', the man, once inside the shops, would then steal the contents of the cash registers and other goods such as cell phones, bottles of champagne and iPads.

Thus, when the officers stopped them in Via Gioberti, in addition to wearing the same clothes used in the thefts, a 'blister' was found on the woman, a yellow paper envelope containing 5 Euros divided into 1 Euro coins, typically used by commercial businesses to store the day's takings in coins and placed inside cash registers.

The investigations also revealed that the couple, in addition to being already known to the police, in August, following a theft committed with the same methods - again in the city centre - had been reported to the Judicial Authority.

At the end of the investigations, the two were subjected to arrest of a crime suspect, the activity carried out was subsequently validated by the Judicial Authority and the two were subjected to the measure of pre-trial detention in prison.

Finally, the in-depth analyses carried out by the police officers of the 1st District allowed them to ascertain that, following a theft committed by the Tunisian, 14th December last – following which he was identified and stopped a few days later and reported again – the man, as soon as he left the police station - on the same evening - committed another theft inside a restaurant in via del Viminale, stealing 500 Euro, two cell phones and an iPad.
