The widespread checks by the State Police in view of the Jubilee, which aim to pay attention not only to the historic center but also to the areas with the greatest tourist vocation, have allowed the discovery of an illegal “diffused” hotel in the heart of the Esquilino neighborhood.
The trick of creating a real hotel by merging several structures such as bed and breakfasts or "other forms of hospitality" thus circumventing laws and regulations is not new in the capital and has been discovered several times by investigators of the Administrative Division of the Rome Police Headquarters.; in these cases, in addition to reporting to the Judiciary regarding the inevitable omissions in sending the data of the guests, after due investigations, the Police Chief of Rome can adopt a measure to cease the illegal activity and suspend the authorized structures for a certain period of time.
The last hotel was discovered in the last few days in the Esquilino neighborhood; the owner, originally from Bangladesh, is said to have merged his 4 structures - two of which are located in a building and the others in neighboring buildings - managing them as a single scattered hotelLast September, again following a series of anomalies, two of the four structures had been subjected to a measure suspending their activity for 15 and 30 days respectively. During the checks, carried out with the contribution of the S.Pre.Sal. (Workplace Safety and Prevention Services) of the ASL, one of the structures, for serious violations of the regulations on workplace safety, was criminally seized. The activity, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, led to the validation of the seizure.
The Police Chief of Rome, having examined the documentation, with a view to ensuring the safety and security of citizens, a task assigned to him by law, has adopted a provision with which he has ordered the immediate cessation of the illegal activity and the suspension for 30 days of the 4 authorised structures.
The order was carried out by the same officers of the Administrative and Social Division.
