Rome celebrates the passing of the Olympic flame: museums, libraries, and the Palaexpo remain exceptionally open until December 6th.

Rome is ready to write a new page in the journey of the Olympic Flame of the Winter Games Milano Curtain 2026, with a very rich program that intertwines sport, , reading and enhancement of the city's symbolic places. Until 6th December, the Capital will be the protagonist of the passage of the Flame thanks to a series of cultural initiatives that will involve museums, libraries and three locations of the Palaexpo, with special openings and activities for all ages.

The programme is presented by the Councillor for Culture, Massimiliano Smeriglio, which underlines how these initiatives offer citizens "the opportunity to enjoy the beauty, recreational and social opportunities of the city”, fitting into the wider project of Cultural Olympics.

Evening openings at the Civic Museums: six locations open until 23 p.m.

To celebrate the passing of the Flame, Rome Capital has planned extraordinary evening openings, from 20: 00 to 23: 00 (last admission at 10.00pm), in the following Civic Museums:

Friday December 5

  • Ara Pacis Museum

  • Napoleonic Museum

Saturday December 6

  • Museum of Rome – Palazzo Braschi

  • Trajan's Markets

Entry will be permitted with current tariffs, offering citizens and tourists a unique opportunity to experience art in the evening. Biblioteche di Roma will participate with two events dedicated to the youngest, hosted at the fair More Books, More Freedom, Cloud (Eur):

Saturday December 6

  • 11:30 am – Born to Read Area
    Bibliolimpiadi – Readings of glory, for children from 0 to 6 years.

  • 19:00 PM – Meeting Area
    Bibliolimpiadi – Readings by champions, for children from 7 years old.

A real journey between words and sport, designed to highlight how the Reading trains you in empathy, wonder, and inclusion..

Palaexpo: Three venues open until 22 p.m.

THEPalaexpo Special Company will extend the opening of its three locations, offering a further cultural opportunity:

  • Palace of Expositions

  • Slaughterhouse

  • MACRO

In the days 4, 5 and 6 December, all will be open to visitors until 22:00, confirming the city's commitment to creating a widespread and accessible cultural network. The entire program is promoted by Rome capital city, Department of Culture and Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, under the Cultural Olympiad of Milano Curtain 2026, a path of approach to the Olympic and Paralympic Games which focuses on art and culture as tools for participation and identity.
