Targeted checks, arrests, and seizures of drugs and weapons: the State Police is stepping up its efforts to prevent and combat youth crime at risk.

They have concluded high-impact operations aimed at combating youth crime, conducted by State Police from August 22nd throughout the country.

The activities, carried out by Mobile Squads of the Police Headquarters, coordinated by Central Operative Service and supported by Crime Prevention Departments and from the territorial offices, concerned young people mainly dedicated to crimes against the person, property, drugs and weapons, as well as responsible for unlawful behaviors related to discrimination and hatred.

The investigations, also carried out through web monitoring, have led to targeted checks and searches in the main places frequented by minors and newly-adults, obtaining significant results:

  • 62.822 people identified, Of which 10.605 minors, especially in drug dealing areas, nightlife, shopping centers and beach resorts. 160 subjects checks are underway to initiate preventive measures (including the prohibition of access to urban areas).

  • 283 adults arrested for crimes against persons, property, drugs and weapons.

  • 22 minors arrested for the same crimes.

  • 81 precautionary custody orders for adults and 6 placements in Juvenile Penal Institutions.

  • 1.110 adults e 180 minors reported in a state of freedom.

  • 829 properties inspected, including 58 reception facilities for unaccompanied foreign minors, 136 arcades and 464 commercial establishments.

  • 19 kg of cocaine, 1 kg of heroin and 79 kg of cannabinoids seized, as well as ecstasy, MDMA, shaboo, benzodiazepines and precision scales.

  • 2 rifles, 36 pistols and ammunition seized, Besides 89 knives and objects capable of offending, including 2 katanas, a baseball bat, a telescopic baton, tasers and brass knuckles.

  • recover jewelry, cell phones, counterfeit banknotes, stolen documents, and a counterfeit Guardia di Finanza card.

  • 425 administrative sanctions high, particularly due to drug use and alcohol administration.

  • 1.300 social profiles monitored, 5 of which incited hatred and violence, were reported to the competent authorities for blocking.

Some of the young people involved appear to belong to groups linked to the so-called “maranza”.
