Rome: 75-year-old wandered around without remembering who he was or his home address, Roberto's happy ending story

He had been wandering the streets for two days without remembering what had happened and, in the meantime, his family members were desperately looking for him.: after having reported his disappearance to the police, they had appealed to social channels and well-known television programs in the hope of finding him. A hope that, minute after minute, transformed into the fear that it was too late to do anything.

Sensing what could have happened, The two officers made him sit in the car so he could recover and, in the meantime, they continued to talk to him, trying, delicately, to acquire some useful information to help him. After few minutes, the man exclaimed to them that his name was Roberto. That name was enough for Stefania and Giovanni to reconstruct his story. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive – which they had already called to test his health conditions – the two officers immediately contacted the operations room of the Police Headquarters to check whether in the previous days any missing persons reports had been filed regarding elderly people called “Roberto”.

At that point, it took just one click to understand everything: that name was associated with the description of a man whose features perfectly matched those of the elderly man they found in front of them. His wife had desperately reported his disappearance, giving her cell phone number in the hope of receiving news of his recovery.

Roma: 75enne vagava senza ricordare ne chi fosse ne il suo indirizzo di casa, la storia a lieto fine di Roberto

Two days after she and her children filed a complaint, Margherita's phone rang.: on the other end of the line were Stefania and Giovanni who, together with Roberto, reassured her about the latter's health conditions. It took just a few minutes after that call for his wife and children to reach Piazza del Risorgimento to hug Roberto again.

“You made our Christmas better,” exclaimed the daughter as she thanked the two policemen. A few days after the episode that brought them together for the first time, Roberto and his family went to meet them at the police station to thank them again. “I’ve always been a policeman,” Roberto exclaimed when Stefania and Antonio welcomed him with a photo taken together that night. A story with a happy ending, concluded with another frameable shot: that of Roberto, wearing a State Police cap, sitting at the desk of the eponymous Police Chief.
