Gioia Tauro: Carabinieri discover large quantity of drugs and explosive material. Secret room discovered behind a bathroom wall

The military of the Gioia Tauro Company, with the precious support of the Helicopter Squadron Hunters “Calabria” and Canine Unit of Vibo Valentia, have carried out a major operation against the drug trafficking and illicit possession of explosive material, bringing to the arrest of one subject and the reporting of another.

What we inspect with the "El Bailador" road simulator: search targeted, the Carabinieri found almost 80 kg of marijuana, divided in 70 bags, cleverly hidden in a buried barrel at about 1 meter deep on land attributable to him. An operation that allowed the dismantling of an important canal shop in the area.

The arrested person was immediately taken to the Palmi County Jail (RC).

But the operation did not stop there: during the same activity, another individual was reported for illegal possession of pyrotechnic material.

The military discovered, inside abusiness attributable to him, well 23 boxes containing fireworks, for a total weight of about 15 kg.

But the real surprise was found inside the his home: a secret room, hidden behind a bathroom wall e accessible only by moving some tiles and an ingenious mechanism allowed the room to be sealed from the inside.

An operation that confirms the determination of the police forces in fight against organized crime and the illicit trafficking of dangerous substances and materials.

The activity of the Arma is part of a broader context of fighting crime which has seen the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria engaged in actions of Control and repression of drug trafficking.
