A vast expanse of greenhouses well hidden among the olive groves and an pungent and unmistakable smell they led the Carabinieri towards one of the most significant marijuana crops identified in recent months in the Plain of Gioia Tauro.
This is what emerged from the operation carried out in the countryside of rizziconi by the military of the local station, with the support of the Operations Section of the Gioia Tauro Company and the Helicopter Squadron Hunters “Calabria”.

Inside the structures were found 545 Indian hemp plants, arranged in 24 rows and supported by a efficient and structured irrigation system, a sign of the presence of an organization capable of guaranteeing production continuity and a high yield.
The plantation, now in advanced vegetative state, was intended to generate a large quantity of narcotic substance.
All the material has been placed seized and subsequently destroyed upon order of the Judicial Authority.
The alleged perpetrator, a 29 year old with no criminal record, was spotted while reaching the area, unaware of the operation in progress. Arrests were arranged for him. arrest, by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Palmi.
