Reggio Calabria: more than 30kg of marijuana hidden in a house in Locride, 35-year-old arrested

More than 30 kilos of marijuana, divided into approximately 90 carefully sealed packages, and another 45 kilos of hemp inflorescences and leaves hidden in common garbage bags: this is the result of the huge discovery, made by the Carabinieri of the Roccella Jonica Company with the invaluable support of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori Calabria", against a 35-year-old from Grotteria.

What attracted the attention of the military was the initial discovery of a first bulky package, containing the typical inflorescences of hemp: The man's attempts to justify himself by claiming it was light cannabis were to no avail.

The meticulous search subsequently carried out by the military on the man, and extended to other premises at his disposal, has in fact allowed them to quickly bring to light what appeared to be for all intents and purposes a warehouse for the storage of marijuana, distributed and packaged with meticulous accuracy and most likely destined to feed the illicit market of narcotics.

A market constantly monitored by the Carabinieri, especially in Locride, where the incessant counter-activity, carried out with sensitive attention also by the numerous Carabinieri Stations located throughout the territory, has often allowed the interception and dismantling of several plantations, hidden in remote areas of the hinterland.

The man was arrested and will now have to answer for the alleged illegal possession of the large quantity of narcotics in his possession.
