A surprising discovery made by the Carabinieri of the Platì Station, with the support of the Helicopter Squadron Hunters “Calabria”, as part of an extraordinary territorial control service.

The military have identified a indoor marijuana plantation set up inside a underground bunker, obtained under a country house belonging to a 67 year old man, now reported for illicit production and possession of narcotic substances.

The discovery was made thanks to the intuition of the Carabinieri, who during a search in a rural area of ​​the municipality noticed an abnormal ventilation grille emerge from the vegetation.

Following the path of the pipes, the soldiers reached a hidden entrance, protected by a system of pulleys and counterweights which allowed access to a carefully camouflaged underground room.

Inside the bunker, the Carabinieri found themselves faced with a a real clandestine greenhouse: dozens of plants of marijuana plants between 60 and 180 centimeters tall, illuminated by a complex system of lamps and controlled ventilation.

The plant was also equipped with automatic irrigation systems and illegal connection to the public electricity grid, used to power the entire structure.

The premises, built in violation of building regulations, was designed to ensure a constant production of cannabis sheltered from prying eyes.

The operation is part of a broader plan of control of the territory arranged by Carabinieri Company of Locri, which continues to work with determination for combat drug production and trafficking in Locride, an area that has always been sensitive to organized crime and drug trafficking.
