I Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Roccella Jonica Company (RC) have executed an arrest warrant for a suspect crime issued by Public Prosecutor's Office of Locri (RC), against a Indian man accused of killing fellow Indian following a brutal attack.

The discovery of the body

The body was found in the very early morning of last August 20th, abandoned in the alleys of the historic center of Gioiosa Ionica (RC). The scene, during the scorching summer days, had caused a particular outcry: the body, in an advanced state of decomposition, had been found completely wrapped in a sheet and lying on the pavement near numerous houses.

The identification of the victim

The investigations, coordinated by Public Prosecutor's Office of Locri, directed by Dr. Giuseppe Casciaro, have proven to be particularly complex, as it was first necessary to proceed with theidentification of the victim, not recognizable due to the old date of death. Fundamental, in this sense, is the information assets of the local Carabinieri Station which, only on the basis of some tattoos, she managed to uncover the identity of the man, known to the police, and soon also to her circle of acquaintances.

The development of the investigations

The timely investigative activity carried out, on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office, by Roccella Ionica Operations Section, supported by the in-depth and qualified contribution of the RIS of Messina, as well as by the staff of the SIS of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria and the Investigative Unit of Locri This investigation allowed us to acquire a number of elements against the arrested man, primarily the result of a thorough investigation carried out at the crime scene: an anonymous, apparently abandoned house where, in all likelihood, the victim had taken refuge for some time, perhaps together with the arrested compatriot.

Investigative analysis of the crime scene

The findings presented to the Prosecutor's Office were enriched thanks to the silent narration offered by the progressive analysis of the crime scene, indicative of particular brutality: the elements collected, put into a system with the scrupulous analysis of video surveillance systems, therefore made it possible to ascertain that the suspect was at the crime scene in circumstances compatible with homicide.

The disagreements surrounding the crime

Furthermore, the thorough investigations have allowed us to ascertain that, precisely a few days before of the discovery of the body, uanother individual of Indian nationality had been rescued by healthcare workers right in the historic center of Gioiosa Ionica. The attention of investigators and the Prosecutor's Office has therefore focused on this line of investigation, allowing them to verify, after thorough investigations, the identity of therescued man, who had already had in the past several disagreements with the victim himself.

The search for the suspect

Furthermore, since the discovery of the body, the prime suspect had made himself untraceable and had thethe municipality of Gioiosa Ionica was abandoned. Thanks to the intensive research carried out by the Operations Section of the Roccella Jonica Company this was finally identified at Siderno, where he had found temporary refuge.
