Giffone: the Carabinieri discover a marijuana plantation. More than 2500 plants worth 600 thousand euros were destroyed.

Once again during a territorial control service, the Carabinieri of the Taurianova Company, with the support of the helicopter squadron "Cacciatori di Calabria", they discovered a vast marijuana plantation hidden in a wooded and impervious area of ​​the Aspromonte municipality of Giffone.

This is the fifth plantation identified within a few days.

In the latest operation, the military found several marijuana plants, some of which were overgrown two meters high. The plants were already in an advanced state of growth, ready to be harvested. On site, it was surprised a young man of 21 years, resident in Giffone, while he monitored the state of maturation of the plants and managed a sophisticated irrigation system.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri, the plants were uprooted and seized, preventing marijuana, once harvested, from fueling the illegal drug market. If transformed into doses ready for sale, the over 2700 plants found in recent days they could have produced around 70 thousand doses, for an estimated black market value of more than 600.000 euro.

The proceeding is currently pending in the preliminary investigation phase and the actual responsibility of the arrested person, given the validity of the accusations made against him, will be examined during the subsequent trial.
Further investigative and evidentiary developments cannot be ruled out, including in favor of the person under investigation.
