Thanks to a call for proposals from the Emilia-Romagna Region the local police have equipped themselves with two drones and 10 officers, of which 4 belonging to the "Natural Zones" section, will attend a course to obtain the flight qualification. This morning the deputy commander of the local police, Alessandra Bagnara, and the director of the Environmental and Territorial Protection Service of the Municipality, Stefano Ravaioli, They brought their greetings to the students.
The project “Remote Rescue Guide”, which has obtained a grant of 54.585 €, aims to guarantee the safety for the population and the territory linked to the emergence of particular critical issues, whether due to adverse events, such as floods or fires, or for other needs, such as search for missing persons.
Within the project, the following were purchased two drones, and officers will attend an 18-hour course by 2024 and a further 18 hours in 2025 on theory and flight training. The use of drones will be able to improve the quality standards of service delivery and to effectively rationalize the use of human and instrumental resources by optimizing their employment.
One of the two drones has the ability to carry objects, inside a special container, such as any life-saving drugs in case the person to be rescued cannot be reached promptly. They also have night and thermal vision with the ability, for example, to identify people in difficult situations and conditions.
