On the evening of Friday 20 September, the State Police Flying Squad took arrest a man of 52 years for the crime of violence or threat and resistance to a public officialThe subject, with a criminal record, had been transported to the local hospital by the 118 health service for a consultation because he was in a state of agitation.
Once he arrived at the health facility, the man began to to verbally threaten a hospital nurse, causing the intervention of a security guard present on site. The latter, in an attempt to stop the attacker, used pepper spray, but was unable to calm the individual, who then engaged in a scuffle with the guard himself.
Upon the arrival of the State Police officers, the man offered further resistance, violently pulling one of the officers. The subject was promptly immobilized and taken to arrest.
The direct trial took place on the morning of Saturday 21st, at the end of which the Judicial Authority validated the arrest and ordered the pre-trial detention in prison. At the same time, personnel from the Anti-Crime Division notified the man, of Sicilian origin, of a mandatory expulsion order from the municipality.
