Ravenna: checks in the Province, 3 activities suspended, 5 illegal workers identified.

The Carabinieri of the NIL (Labour Inspectorate Unit) of Ravenna, with the collaboration of the military personnel of the CC Companies of Ravenna, Faenza, Lugo and Cervia, within the scope of the activities aimed at preventing and repressing the phenomena of exploitation of labour and undeclared work and at verifying compliance with the legislation on the protection of the health and safety of workers in the workplace, have intensified checks in the construction, agriculture and residential structures for the elderly sectors.

The inspection activity, of an ordinary and technical nature, was aimed at verifying the regular employment of workers and compliance with the regulations on health and safety in the workplace.
The results of the checks carried out in the provincial territory have allowed us to identify unregistered workers (illegal workers), ascertain violations committed by employers due to irregularities in established employment relationships and failures to comply with safety regulations in the workplace.
11 companies operating in different work sectors were checked, identified following info-operational activity carried out in synergy by the territorial Arma and the NIL of Ravenna. At the conclusion of the inspections, irregularities were found in 6 of the companies checked, of which 2 were active in Ravenna, 1 in Cervia, 1 in Castel Bolognese, 1 in Bagnacavallo and 1 in Alfonsine. 5 "undeclared" workers were identified. During the inspections, 3 suspensions of business activity were adopted.

In total, fines of 90.000 euros were imposed.

In particular:
– In the municipality of Ravenna, the NIL Carabinieri of Ravenna, assisted by the military of the Ravenna CC Company Command, carried out checks at:
1. a residential health care facility where the presence of 1 “illegal” worker without a residence permit was ascertained, the failure to train workers, the failure to appoint a competent doctor and the failure to periodically check the electrical system. The relative large fine for illegal work was contested and sanctions of 20.000 euros were imposed;
2. a construction site where the presence of 1 “illegal” worker was ascertained and the failure to prepare the operational safety plan, with the consequent adoption of the provision of suspension of the business activity. High fines of 16.000 euros;

– In the municipality of Cervia, the Carabinieri of the NIL, assisted by the military of the Cervia CC Company Command, carried out checks at a construction site where the failure to prepare the operational safety plan and the failure to comply with the obligations of the contracting company were ascertained, with the consequent adoption of the provision of suspension of the business activity. Fines of approximately 15.000 euros were imposed;

– In the municipality of Castel Bolognese, the Carabinieri of the NIL, assisted by the military of the Faenza CC Company Command, carried out checks at a construction site where the presence of 2 “illegal” workers was ascertained, 1 of whom was without a residence permit, with the consequent adoption of the measure of suspension of the business activity. High fines of 17.000 euros.

– In the municipality of Bagnacavallo, the Carabinieri of the NIL, assisted by the military of the Lugo CC Company Command, carried out checks at a farm where the illicit supply of labor by 4 workers was ascertained. Fines of 5.000 euros were imposed.

– In the municipality of Alfonsine, the Carabinieri of the NIL, assisted by the military of the Ravenna CC Company Command, carried out checks at a construction site where the presence of 1 “illegal” worker without a residence permit and the lack of scaffolding suitable for eliminating the dangers of falling from a height were ascertained, with the consequent adoption of the measure of suspension of the business activity. Fines of 17.000 euros were imposed.
