“The Neighbors’ Christmas” in Ravenna: meetings, cuisine and culture for the Community.

The “Neighbors’ Christmas” exhibition opens on Sunday, December 1st, a series of cultural, culinary and convivial initiatives organised by the residents of via dei Tomai and the surrounding streets, which have entered into a collaboration agreement for the care of common goods with the Municipal Administration.

Via dei Tomai is a small and ancient street between the two gates of Via Baccarini and Via Mazzini in the ancient Borgo San Rocco. It has no shops, but citizens who live there who, thanks to the resourcefulness of Rosella Mengozzi, have decided to organize various events with the aim of decorating the street and meeting the citizens. A network of relationships between people who help and support each other even in carrying out small daily tasks. After several initiatives of cleaning, care and beautification of the street, now, for the winter season, the idea was born to open one's home to the citizens to share food, chats and relationships.

It starts on Sunday 1st December with the drawing of the solidarity lottery and the lighting of the tree. Every weekend Rosella will open her home to anyone who wants to participate in the cooking course on regional traditions; Saturday afternoons in the studio of Laura Pagliai, an artist who works with clay and other techniques, exhibitions and art workshops, and then Friday evening conversations and book presentations.

Program

– Sunday 1st December at 19pm draw of the Solidarity lottery “Cooking for the community”. Ticket price 10 euros. Followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree.

– Every Sunday “The cuisine of the regions – Sunday lunch” from 12 to 14:30, tasting at Rosella's house, via dei Tomai 16.

– Every Saturday and Sunday “The Holiday Kitchen” from 15pm to 30pm cooking classes for adults, boys and girls.

– Friday meetings (6 and 20 December) in via dei Tomai 16 at 18 pm, conversations with Guido Barbieri, musicologist and playwright; on 13 December at 18 pm “Food to read” with Rita Massarenti, presentation of the book: Home cooking-questions of the heart, friendships... cooking. Followed by aperitif by Rosella.

– Saturday meetings, in via del Pignataro 2, (reservations at 338 7543905). On December 7th and 14th, from 16:30 pm to 18:30 pm “Snack with Art – Terracotta Christmas Decoration Workshops” with Laura Pagliai.

– Painting and sculpture exhibitions: November 23-29, Loretta Merenda; November 30-December 13, Marilena Tesei; December 14-20, Maria Casto; from December 21, Laura Pagliai.

– Passion: engine of life, in via dei Tomai 16 (Saturday 11 January 2025 at 18 pm) book presentation “Passion – Testimonies for young people” by Rita Massarenti.
