Massa Lombarda: Carabinieri arrest 36-year-old serial robber.

The Carabinieri of the Massa Lombarda (RA) Station arrested a 36-year-old man for aggravated theft.
The man, known to the Carabinieri of Massa Lombarda for some previous police records, taking advantage of a moment of distraction of a lady from Massa, managed to steal her bag containing her documents and a large sum of money.

In particular, the arrested man, after having identified the area in which to strike, right in the historic center, waited for his victim to then act at the right moment. In fact, the unaware woman approached her car where, after having placed her bag on the front passenger seat, she went to the trunk to let her dog, which she was keeping on a leash, get in.

It was at this moment that the man acted and, taking advantage of that moment of distraction, opened the door of the vehicle and took the bag before running away.

He probably thought he had gotten away with it but was immediately chased by the Carabinieri of the Massa Lombarda and Sant'Agata sul Santerno stations who, in civilian clothes, hidden among the cars parked in the streets near the city center, were carrying out a territorial control service precisely to avoid crimes against property and repress any violations.

The chase lasted a few minutes; the arrested man tried to disappear and hide the stolen goods but his action did not lead to the desired outcome and he was then stopped and taken to the police station.
The military, as usually happens in these circumstances, decided to carry out a more thorough check and therefore went to his home to check if there was any other stolen goods.

The Carabinieri's intuition proved providential because, in his apartment, they found the clothes used by the man in other similar episodes committed in recent days in Massa Lombarda.

In particular, the man was identified as responsible for four other similar episodes committed in the streets of the center: in one episode the victim was a woman whose bag he stole from her shopping cart; in another circumstance he took a bag that a woman was carrying in the basket of her bicycle.
Subsequently, the man increased his dangerousness because on another occasion, again after having identified his victim, he gave her a shoulder, managing to snatch the bag she was holding under her arm.

Finally he even committed a robbery, again against a woman who, in an attempt to resist the theft of her bag, was pulled until she fell to the ground.

Part of the stolen goods was also recovered and returned to the victims of these crimes.
These episodes, which occurred so close together in time, prompted the Carabinieri of the Massa Lombarda Station to immediately begin investigations and then, through prolonged observation services, they managed to identify and arrest the man who, this morning, was brought before the Judge of the Court of Ravenna who validated the arrest made by the military.

It should be noted that, in accordance with the principle of the presumption of innocence, the guilt of the person being investigated in relation to the matter in question will be definitively ascertained only if an irrevocable sentence of conviction is issued.
