The Carabinieri of the Lugo Company, over the past weekend, have arranged extraordinary territorial control services, aimed at preventing and combating predatory crimes and controlling road traffic.
A total of 81 patrols were employed, of which 63 were in service at the Carabinieri Stations and 16 from the Emergency Response Unit of the Lugo Operational and Radiomobile Unit, supported by soldiers in “civilian” clothing.
During the operation, the military personnel of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus surprised a man who, without a driving license, had nevertheless decided to drive a car, thinking of doing so under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The unsafe driving behavior did not escape the control of the patrol that, in a central street of Lugo, stopped the driver. Obviously he was subjected to an alcohol test that was positive: the man risks a fine of up to 3.200 euros and arrest for up to six months, having found a blood alcohol level between 0,8 g/l and 1.5 g/l. The Carabinieri, on this occasion also carried out a check with latest-generation saliva tests to verify the intake of narcotic substances. The check was positive and the driver, having refused to undergo the subsequent specific check at a health facility, was nevertheless reported, foreseeing a more severe penalty, in fact he risks a fine of up to 6.000 euros and arrest for six months to one year. The driver was therefore reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ravenna for the necessary procedural examination.
The Carabinieri of the Bagnacavallo Station and the Sant'Agata sul Santerno Station, on the other hand, by order of the Bologna Surveillance Office, They accompanied to prison two men who, subjected to the alternative measure of probation to social services, had violated the provisions imposed on them.
Overall, during the operations, 105 checkpoints were set up along the main roads of the Lugo area, which allowed the identification of 247 people and 171 vehicles.
