The President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Antonio Mazzeo, took part, on the morning of Wednesday 5 February, at the 'Galilei' airport in Pisa, in the ceremony for the inauguration of a red bench, symbol of the fight against violence against women. Toscana Aeroporti is in fact participating in the joint initiative between Assaeroporti and the Italian airport management companies, Airport Day, which simultaneously involves 17 airports throughout the country, with the aim of describing the central role of the airport system for the development, progress and sustainability of our country and underlining the commitment of the airport sector towards the territory and the communities in which it operates.
"This red bench is placed in a symbolic place, made of departures and arrivals, where people meet, greet each other, find each other again – he declared Mazzeo –. This bench tells us which path we should follow. Until even one woman is barbarically killed by the violent hands of a man, each of us will have to feel a piece of social responsibility. The phenomenon of femicide must end. There is physical violence and there is also psychological violence: enough subordination, every woman must be free to dress as she wants, to say what she wants, to walk in the world with the smile she thinks is best. When you hear someone say 'he killed her because he loved her', I shudder. If you love someone, you cannot cause their death, nor do any kind of violence to them".
On this occasion, the President of the Regional Assembly also focused on the growing data of the Pisa airport"I am happy with these numbers – he said Mazzeo –. Seeing that the Pisa airport continues to grow means that the objective we set ourselves in the master plan is going in the right direction. Of course, the service to be offered must continually improve. Pisa airport is Tuscany's gateway to the world, so investments in the airport are good, we are following them with great attention”. Galileo, added Mazzeo, "It must become one of the most hospitable airports in Europe, this is the challenge we face. It is therefore important that it grows in the number of passengers and that investments go in the direction we have agreed. Pisa, the Pisan area, with its infrastructure and its airport make a significant contribution to the growth of Tuscany".
