«Gender violence is a scourge of our society. A complex social emergency, which must be fought also through education in social and sentimental relationships, especially in the young generations who are approaching new loves and who may be, in their future, better than the current ones. Thanks to Gino Cecchettin for the valuable work of awareness that he is carrying out also through the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, which is committed to valorizing and supporting, in a network logic, the organizations already present in the territory that support women victims of violence».
The book
Dear Giulia. What I Learned from My Daughter (Rizzoli 2024)
Synopsis: Giulia is the ideal daughter. She studies, draws, dreams of living on a moor, collects boxes and gives sweet smiles. Then one evening she disappears, swallowed up by an absurd death: a femicide. Overwhelmed by the most atrocious pain a father can bear, Gino Cecchettin chooses not to remain silent, he questions himself on the most brutal outcomes of a patriarchal culture that still affects us and finds the words to remember who Giulia was and what he learned from her. In this long letter written together with Marco Franzoso, Gino retraces his story as a father, the days of joy and those of pain. He moves and invites us to "build an alliance between the sexes, rather than consolidate the domination of one over the other". He urges us to listen to the young people of our country and to help them fight all forms of gender violence, together.
