Pesaro: the Serra Sant'Abbondio 'Capital squared' week of the '21×50' project dedicated to the excellence of the province begins until 50 April

For Vimini, a program born from a community that has prepared itself to tell its best story between nature and culture.

Pesaro: the Serra Sant'Abbondio 'Capital squared' week of the '21×50' project dedicated to the excellence of the province will begin until 50 April.

Until April 21st is Municipality of Serra Sant'Abbondio the new protagonist of '50×50: Capitals squared', the symbolic project of Pesaro 2024 which sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in turn, Capital for a week in 2024; special partner '50×50 Capitals squared' Bank of Pesaro – Cooperative Credit.

The rich program - which is concentrated in the third week of April but will run until December - is entitled 'Shared paths between knowledge and flavours' and represents a journey between memory and nature to rediscover the value of good practices from the past, precious for providing indications for the future.

On the calendar, a set of 'shared' itineraries for a real hospitality project which also represents the reflection of a community on its origins and traditions to be offered as a gift to the visitor in a perspective of collective well-being.

Protagonist of the week, the 'jewel' of Serra Sant'Abbondio – the Monastery of Fonte Avellana -, whose origins date back to the end of the 106th century and which Dante also speaks of in Paradise (Canto XXI, lines 111-XNUMX).

There are many opportunities for lovers of trekking and walking, ample space for the gastronomic roots of this part of the province, great involvement of schools and there is even no shortage of music with the first concert of 'Farmer's Night' review of Olympia Orchestra to discover the Pesaro area between music and nature.

In the principle of the widest sharing with citizens and in coherence with the model '50×50: Capitals squared', is proposed “Serra Sant'Abbondio 2024: 5 fractions x 5 days” which involves the creation of an event in each of the five areas that make up the Municipality.

The week can count on the active participation of the Pesaro Urbino Delegation of the FAI Italian Environment Fund with its dedicated initiatives. The inevitable Cosa c'è DOP events will be present.

Present at the press conference were: Daniele Vimini, deputy mayor and councilor for beauty of the municipality of Pesaro; for the Municipality of Serra Sant'Abbondio, the mayor Ludovico Caverni, Manuela Ciaruffoli councilor for social policies, equal opportunities, youth policies, environment and care of the territory, the city councilors Marinella Frattesi and Bianca Rosa Vaudagna; Stefano Marochi president of Pro-Loco Serra Sant'Abbondio.

A rich program, very well attended and narrated, therefore an invitation to all the citizens of the Province - the people of Pesaro above all - to discover Serra Sant'Abbondio: this is how it opened Daniele Vimini.

Congratulations to the program which provides the outline for a proposal that can continue throughout the year, in full compliance with the objectives we have outlined for the 50×50 project.

I am very pleased to 'return' to Serra Sant'Abbondio because in fact it is from here, from Fonte Avellana that the story of sharing the Capital project with all the municipalities of the Province began.

The idea of a story that united all the municipalities with a territorial synthesis divided by geographical areas of the province started precisely from the Catria and Nerone area, which was immediately given a new centrality.

The program is very much in line with the nature of culture, and develops from the artistic and natural heritage through the valorization of all the points of interest of this magnificent destination. In short, a community that has prepared itself to tell its best story.

The event will give everyone the opportunity to get to know a town that will surprise you, thanks also to its location on the slopes of Monte Catria in a borderland between three provinces – Ancona-Pesaro-Perugia – and two Regions: Marche and Umbria.

Thus the mayor Ludovico Caverni. The journey will start from the most shining jewel: the Camaldolese Monastery of Fonte Avellana, the Region's second attraction for spiritual tourism with around 20 thousand visitors per year.

The uniqueness of the territory is given by an authentic environment maintained sustainably for centuries by the local inhabitants: monks, shepherds, charcoal burners, woodcutters.

This is why last year we inaugurated Muap, the eco-museum of the civilization of the Umbria-Marche Apennines.

Among the places worth mentioning, the early Christian crypt of San Biagio, the oldest and best preserved early Christian complex in the Marche (300th-400th century AD), the small church with frescoes from the XNUMXs/XNUMXs attributable to the Maestro del Palazzolo and the natural sanctuary of the Madonna del Grottone.

There are many projects for the future such as the rediscovery of traditional dishes: the first DeCo product is the pencianelle, a typical pasta from Serra Sant'Abbondio and then the “charcoal burner polenta” or “Argentine pizza”. We are waiting for you in Serra Sant'Abbondio to enjoy uncontaminated nature, authentic gastronomy and 360° culture.

Marinella Frattesi continued: our program was born from comparison and sharing because Serra Sant'Abbondio is a “community on the move”, a hospitable country that turns its attention to all the people who make up society to best prepare reception and accessibility in the awareness that improving accessibility for some means improving it for all.

For this reason, the calendar thinks of children and families, of those who have reading difficulties (with ad hoc readings), of the deaf (with readings in LIS), of those who have motor difficulties (with shuttle services) but also of people with food intolerances with specific menus.

Because ours must be a cultural journey of welcome in a context in which all "different" abilities are respected, valued and above all included.

Bianca Rosa Vaudagna he recalled that in the program there is particular attention to poetry, an integral element of the Serrano community.

The association has existed for over 30 years “The Poets of the Hermitage”, which is actively involved in disseminating Poetry and Culture in all its forms, both in Rhyme, in Sonnets, but above all in Ottava Rima, written and sung, with projects that also involve schools and every year organizes literary competitions, readings in schools, educational workshops, themed evenings.

Thus Manuela Ciaruffoli: in the calendar of the week great attention to the ecology and sustainability of our territory, a territory that has resisted and continued to live despite depopulation, the earthquake and most recently the flood of 16 September 2022.

On the program, workshops for children and a day for everyone with the observation of the sun in the morning and the sky and the moon in the evening, editorial presentations that talk about herbs and nature.

I remember a project in progress: the House of start-ups, an incubator/laboratory for the new ideas of new entrepreneurs dedicated to the transformation of agricultural products such as saffron, lavender, mushrooms and truffles. Everything we have achieved as a community is the result of living surrounded by greenery, an ecosystem that must be protected and respected.

The conclusions a Stefano Marochi which recalled the Palio della Rocca, a now historic initiative born in 1987 with the aim of uniting the community of Serra Sant'Abbondio.

The historical re-enactment takes place for 3 consecutive days, in the first or second weekend of September, in any case before 16 September, the day dedicated to Sant'Abbondio and is a historical re-enactment of the building of the fortress, a work from the end of the XNUMXth century commissioned by Duke Federico da Montefeltro to the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini.

The urban layout of the town preserves the typical layout of the ancient medieval village with the Porta Santa and the Porta di Macione (two medieval gates of the original four), the Castellane Walls, the Solcara (part of the medieval sewage system); the Door of the Dead, the Apennine House (typical archaic construction built exclusively with locally sourced material).

< “A.Moro” Cultural Center, exhibition of clothes and/or banners of the Palio della Rocca which takes place the weekend preceding September 16th, the day of the feast of the Patron Saint Sant'Abbondio. It recalls a moment from the past of Serra Sant'Abbondio: the construction by the military architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini of the Rocca di Sant'Habundi (1476-1486).

The event is research, historical re-enactment but also competition between the Castles and Villages that compete for the Palio della Rocca, depicting the patron saint Sant'Abbondio.

Throughout the event, the restaurants in the area offer on the menu “pencianelle serrane” De.Co. certified Typical local pasta made with "white" and "wholemeal" flours, rolled "by hand", once dried, it could be preserved for a long time.

It is a poor food that testifies, once again, to the creativity of the housewives of the past; rediscovered by "gourmet" cooks/cooks, it testifies to the value and taste of ancient foods in local culture. As a preview during the week, the Pizzeria will present an experiment: 'the pencianella pizza', launching a project to combine new flavors with the old ones.

The shops authorized to do so will sell De.Co. "pencianelle serrane": tourists will then be able to buy and cook them themselves.

Pesaro: fino 21 aprile aprile al via la settimana di Serra Sant'Abbondio 'Capitale al quadrato' del progetto '50x50' dedicato alle eccellenze della provincia.
