Carini: Gunshots fired toward sister's house, 44-year-old arrested
The safety of citizens and the fight against crime have always been one of the primary objectives of the Carabinieri, which is engaged daily in the prevention and repression of all forms of crime. In this perspective, the Carabinieri of the Monreale Station, supported by the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of Carini, have a 44-year-old man from Palermo, already known to the police, was arrested on charges of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm and ammunition, as well as aggravated threats.
In particular, the 44 year old, on board a car driven by an as yet unidentified person, he went to Carini, to his sister's house and, once he arrived in front of her building, he drew the attention of the woman, who left the apartment together with her two children, aged 18 and 3. After asking to speak to her sister's husband, who was absent from the house at the time, the suspect then pulled out a revolver and fired 5 shots, 2 of which at chest height, which hit the bathroom window on the ground floor and the front facade of the house. Immediately after, the man quickly drove away, getting back into the car.
The Carabinieri of the Carini Company intervened immediately and carried out the first surveys, recovering the two warheads that had hit the house. The investigation activity also involved the military of the Monreale Station, who were provided with useful information for the identification and search for the suspect, who had probably left in the direction of Monreale. Thanks to this timely collaboration between the Stations of Carini, Monreale, Villagrazia di Carini and the NORM of the Carini Company, an intense information-investigative activity was activated which allowed the 44-year-old to be traced inside a street food restaurant in Monreale.
The personal and vehicle search led to the discovery of the weapon with the serial number erased and used in the shooting and hidden under the driver's seat, as well as approximately 4100 euros in cash. Subsequently, the military of the Monreale Station, together with the Palermo-Villagrazia Dog Unit, extended the search activity to the apartment of the man where, thanks to the nose of the dog Vera, trained to search for weapons and ammunition, Cartridges of various calibers were found, illegally held and hidden in the suspect's bedroom. The arrested man was transferred to the Pagliarelli Prison in Palermo, awaiting the validation hearing, as ordered by the Judicial Authority.
