Sorrento (Naples), 18-year-old beaten by a group of peers. Very serious injuries. The violence was triggered by the victim's attempt to defend his friend. Carabinieri execute measure against 6 youths

In the morning the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Company, in execution of an order implementing the coercive measure of house arrest, issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Torre Annunziata, at the request of this Public Prosecutor's Office, they proceeded to arrest 6 young people originally from the Sorrento Peninsula, aged between 18 and 20, all seriously suspected of the crime of serious personal injury, with the aggravating circumstance of having acted as a group of more than five people.

The facts for which the proceedings are being conducted date back to the evening of 16 October 2024, when, in the streets of the centre of Sorrento, an 18-year-old was violently beaten by a group of peers, resulting in very serious maxillofacial trauma which required the victim to undergo several reconstructive surgeries in the following weeks, with a recovery prognosis of at least 3-4 months.

The investigations, developed by the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Station and coordinated by this Public Prosecutor's Office, arose from the complaint filed on the morning of October 17, 2024 by the parents of the injured party, accompanied by the medical documentation relating to the health conditions of the victim of the crime, from which the extreme seriousness of the incident emerged.

Through the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Station and the testimonies acquired, it was possible to reconstruct the genesis and dynamics of the beating, which would have originated from trivial reasons. (related to issues of jealousy, on the part of one of the attackers, towards a friend of the victim, who had tried to defend the friend, who had accompanied the attacker's ex-girlfriend home) and it would have occurred after surrounding the victim, first beating her and then making her fall to the ground, where her attackers would have continued to attack her, hitting her, with kicks and punches, on the body, head and face, until she lost consciousness.

The complex of circumstantial evidence collected has allowed us to arrive, with a high probability, at the identification of the current suspects as responsible for the crime for which proceedings are being carried out.

Following the formal procedures, the arrested persons were placed under house arrest at their respective homes.
