Nola: Defrauds a couple over seventy of around 10.000 euros, 19-year-old arrested

The Carabinieri of the San Sebastiano al Vesuvio Station have executed a Prison Detention Order issued by the Court of Nola, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against a 19 year old of Caivano, already subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest in the Carditello area, as he is seriously suspected of the crime of fraud against the elderly. The measure arises from an investigation conducted by the military of San Sebastiano following a fraud complaint filed in November 2024 by a local couple in their seventies.

In particular, The two victims reported receiving a call on their landline from a male subject, who pretended to be their son, had reported that he was waiting for a package to be delivered, asking his father to go to the post office to collect it. While his father was waiting at the post office in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, always entertained on the phone by the scammer, his mother had been contacted by telephone by another accomplice, who, always pretending to be the son, had reported that he had not been able to pay the money for the purchase made, for a sum of 5.200 euros, specifying that he was at the Carabinieri, who were waiting for the payment of the sum, necessary in order to avoid a criminal complaint.

The woman was then reached at home by one of the scammers, who convinced her to hand over the gold jewelry in her possession, with a total value of about 10.000 euros. Only after the delivery did the two elderly people realize they had been scammed, going to the Carabinieri offices to file a complaint. The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio have allowed di identify the individual who had gone to the house to collect the jewels, who was also recognized by the victims, as well as immortalized by the cameras present in the area. The arrested man was taken to the Naples Poggioreale prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
