Pursued by the police, the drivers abandoned their vehicles on the A30 and disappeared into the countryside. Burglary tools were also found inside.
Naples, a wrong-way driver on the highway: two high-powered cars seized, allegedly stolen.
In recent days the Naples State Police he seized two high-powered cars, which were subsequently found proceeds of theft, at the end of an operation conducted along the motorway network.
It all started at North Naples barrier, where the agents of the Caserta North Motorway SubsectionThey intercepted the two vehicles. At the sight of the patrols, the drivers attempted to to escape control by fleeing.
Driving in the wrong direction and abandoning vehicles
Having received the report, the Naples Operations Center he ordered the intervention of a patrol of the Nola Detachment, which managed to locate the cars near the“Tre Ponti” service area on the A30 motorway.
However, at the sight of the operators, the drivers performed an extremely dangerous maneuver: they reversed and drove in the wrong direction for a few metres, then abandon cars on the emergency lane.
Drivers and occupants are therefore fled on foot, disappearing without a trace in the surrounding countryside.
Cars stolen and used for predatory crimes
Subsequent investigations have allowed us to establish that both vehicles had been robbed.
In particular, one of the two had already been used in the provinces of Naples, Caserta and Salerno for the commission of numerous predatory crimes.
During the search of the cars, the officers also found burglary tools, which were subjected to seizure along with the vehicles.
Investigations continue for identify those responsible of the escape and reconstruct the exact origin of the vehicles, as well as their use in the various criminal episodes recorded in the area.
