Naples: Anti-mafia operation, 20 arrests for extortion and drug trafficking.

By delegation of District Attorney of Naples, it is reported that aprecautionary custody order in prison issued by GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of District Anti-Mafia Directorate, towards 20 Guests. Of these, 16 were arrested by the State Police e 4 from the Carabinieri, as they are seriously accused, to varying degrees, of the crimes of mafia-type association, attempted extortion, extortion, possession and carrying of firearms – even clandestine ones – as well as illicit drug trafficking and drug dealingThe crimes contested are aggravated by the so-called mafia method and the purpose of facilitating the Camorra clan “Pezzella”, active in the municipalities of Frattamaggiore, Crispano and surrounding areas.

From investigations conducted by the Frattamaggiore Police Station and the Naples Flying Squad, would have emerged:

• The Pezzella clan's operations, responsible of extortion against entrepreneurs and traders, as well as the availability of weapons to assert their hegemony and counter rival clans, including the Christian Clan – Mormile.
• The existence of a organized group dedicated to the dealing of cocaine, hashish, marijuana and crack in the areas of Frattamaggiore and Frattaminore.

The investigations conducted by Casoria Carabinieri Company they also revealed further extortion episodes, characterized by violent and intimidating acts, always attributable to aPezzella clan articulation.

Currently, 17 people were arrested, while 3 are untraceable and are actively sought.

The measure carried out is one precautionary measure during the preliminary investigation phase: the recipients are under investigation and, therefore, to be considered presumed innocent until final sentence.
