Military personnel of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, also in light of the indications received from the Prefect – Dr. Michele di Bari at the Committee for Public Order and Safety, they have intensified their economic control activities in the territory in order to combat the sale of illegal and dangerous fireworks.
Following two separate recent operations, over 2 tons of illegally produced fireworks, three cell phones and a van were seized. 2 people were reported, one of whom was arrested, for manufacturing, possession, sale and transportation of explosive material, as well as for violations of fire and public safety regulations.
In particular, the financial police of the Nola Group have identified some suspicious shipments at a logistics platform in Mariglianella (Naples), which carries out courier activities. The operation allowed the identification and seizure, inside packages that appeared to be anonymous shipments, of a total of 400 kg of home-made fireworks with high explosive potential. – such as firecrackers, onions and paper bombs – the manufacture of which is prohibited, as well as numerous “pyrotechnic batteries” of 100 and 200 shots, for a total of approximately 5.000 “pieces”.
From subsequent developments, it was possible to trace a property in Sant'Anastasia (Naples), located, among other places, near the city centre, in the possession of a young local man, which was used as a storage centre for explosive material and for packaging parcels to be shipped. After observing suspicious operations of loading and unloading packages onto a van, access to the premises allowed the military to seize another 400 kg. of pyrotechnic devices, consisting of over 2.000 similar “pieces”.
On this occasion, the Carabinieri of the Bomb Squad of the Provincial Command of the Naples Arma also intervened and confirmed the “lethal nature” of the explosive material.
The young man was arrested in flagrante delicto and the material found, together with the vehicle and telephones used to contact potential clients, were seized.
Further territorial control activity has allowed us to discover a agricultural shed, inside which were stored more than 1.200 kg of pyrotechnic devices, consisting of over 400 "pyrotechnic batteries" of 100 and 200 shots. The owner, to whom the depot was attributable, was reported to the Judicial Authority and the pyrotechnic material was seized.
