Naples: Gang of youths attack passers-by for the purpose of robbery, precautionary measures for 6 individuals
The State Police gave execution of an order for the application of precautionary measures issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge at the Court of Naples, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, against six individuals, aged between 24 and 34. Of these, one was placed in prison custody, three under house arrest, one under the obligation to reside in the Municipality of Naples and one, finally, under the obligation to report to the judicial police. The six suspects are considered seriously suspected of complicity in aggravated robbery and aggravated assault; the 24-year-old also of attempted aggravated murder.
In particular, on the night of Sunday 28 April 2024, near Piazza Bellini, a young local man, having noticed that his girlfriend's cell phone had been stolen, had attempted to stop the perpetrator, but was violently attacked by the latter and five other individuals who had come to his aid, following which the victim had reported injuries deemed curable in 3 days. On the evening of August 4th, instead, near Piazza De Nicola, a Dutch tourist and his girlfriend, after being chased for several hundred meters by some individuals on two scooters, were reached and attacked with kicks and punches with the intent of robbery.
In the circumstance, the man had received a stab wound to the chest from one of the attackers which had caused serious personal injuries consisting of "traumatic pneumothorax of the right hemithorax from a stab wound" which had required his hospitalization in a city hospital for over 40 days.
The provision in question summarizes the results of an investigation carried out by personnel from the Flying Squad and the Decumani Police Station, focused on theanalysis of video surveillance systems and license plate reading systems present in the city, as well as on the questioning and positive photographic identification to which some witnesses were subjected, at the end of which it was the responsibility of the same individuals in both criminal episodes was ascertained.
The suspects were then traced to their respective homes, with the exception of two of them, respectively recipients of the precautionary measures of the obligation to remain at home and the obligation to report to the judicial police, who were initially untraceable, but subsequently presented themselves at the offices of the local Police Headquarters.
