Naples: Carabinieri checks in the city, weapons still in the hands of very young people

24 hours of checks in the city. Focus of the Carabinieri of the Vomero and Centro companies in the neighborhoods of Scampia, Miano, Piscinola, Camaldoli and in the historic center. The support of the Campania Regiment was fundamental. We started from the hilly neighborhoods. Two 16-year-olds were reported for unjustified possession of weapons: one was found in possession of a 20 cm switchblade, the other with a metal knuckleduster, both stopped at the “Piscinola – Scampia” metro station. A 68-year-old woman was reported for evasion because she was absent at the time of the check. At the same time, a protest was organized in the Historic Center and in the Spanish Quarters.

Several people were reported, including a 20-year-old found with a switchblade in Mezzocannone Street, a 19-year-old in possession of packaged marijuana and a peer caught stealing a cell phone from a tourist in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore. The latter was tracked down after a futile escape on a scooter. Numerous illegal parking attendants were also reported, some of whom had already been fined in the past, caught illegally operating their businesses in various areas of the city. Three people were fined for riding a scooter without ever having obtained a license.

During the operation, a total of 644 people were identified, 323 vehicles were checked and 102 traffic fines were issued. 22 vehicles were seized. Two premises were fined. for lack of authorization for music broadcasting and 4 people reported to the Prefecture for possession of small quantities of drugs.
