Campobasso, 900 thousand euros for a multipurpose sports facility.
The popular neighborhood of via Quircio and that of Fontanavecchia in Campobasso will have a new meeting place, especially for young people. He made it known the councilor for social policies of the municipality of Campobasso, Luca Praitano, making it known that a long-awaited response from the municipal administration of the capital has finally arrived from the Ministry.
«The Municipality of Campobasso – said Praitano – indeed obtained financing of 900 thousand euros for the project nominated for Cluster 1 of the PNRR to be allocated to the construction of a new multipurpose sports facility».
«A couple of years ago, during the summer period, – added the councilor – I had the opportunity to observe numerous children from the working-class neighborhood participating with joy and enthusiasm in the activities managed by the oratory and the scout group that operate in the Sant'Antonio Abate area. Children engaged in all kinds of games on makeshift courts in the underused car park that stretches between the buildings. From there was born the idea of creating a multipurpose facility that could be used both for practicing sports and for carrying out other social activities, taking the opportunity to foresee a substantial urban redevelopment».
«For this reason, taking advantage of one of the calls foreseen by the PNRR, – explained Praitano – we have nominated a project which specifically involves the creation of a newly built playing field for tennis, volleyball and basketball activities and an area equipped with a climbing wall. Furthermore, to ensure compliance with the standards required by CONI regulations for competitive sports activities, the implementation of spaces intended for stands and suitable changing rooms serving the entire sports complex is envisaged».
The intervention will be completed with the re-functionalization of the entire area for vehicles and pedestrians, with the identification of new parking areas and new access routes from Via Venezia.
«It is to be hoped that all this will be available fairly quickly, – Praitano said in conclusion – because, as required by the regulations that regulate this type of fund, the various phases are organized at a central level and must be respected to avoid the risk of losing the funding».
