The Provincial Command of the Financial Police of Milano delivered to theUniversity of Milano capital goods seized following a complex investigative activities to combat drug trafficking, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Busto Arsizio (VA).
In particular, in September 2023, during a service aimed at the economic control of the territory, soldiers from the Group of Legnano they had carried out ainspection of a van just out of a building in the industrial area of upper Milan.
The investigations carried out on the vehicle and inside the building allowed us to seize over 167 kg of marijuana as well as one greenhouse equipped with a modern lighting, ventilation, irrigation and heating system with more than 900 marijuana plants grown indoors.
The service operation also allowed for arrest two responsible and seize the area and equipment used to illegally grow cannabis plants from which to obtain the drug: 150 professional LED lamps and other equipment used for illicit cultivation.
At the end of the process, the Court of Busto Arsizio, on the proposal of the operating Department, given the significant economic value of the equipment seized and its possible re-employment in legal activities, has arranged for it confiscation , devolution, for institutional purposes, at the University of Milano.
On March 14, at the seat of the Rectorate, the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, General B. Andrea Trust, delivered the devices confiscated electrics to the Rector of the University of Milan, Prof. Marina Brambilla.
Il study material, for an estimated value of over 75 thousand euros will come now used by researchers and students of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences - Production, Territory, Agroenergy for scientific analysis purposes.
The lamps will be used in “growth chambers” where they are carried out experiments on plants under controlled conditions in terms of temperature, humidity and lighting. They will also be used for experiments of microbial growths check.
The initiative is an expression of the strong social vocation of the Corps, not only in carrying out its institutional mission aimed at combating all forms of illegality, but also in spreading the educational value of scientific research, fundamental for the development of the country.
