Sardinia, a week on display at the Artigiano in Fiera Milano.
La Sardinia opens to the world, until Sunday 8 December, the doors of its artisan workshops at the Artigiano in Fiera, in the context of an event that registers over a million visitors every year, distributed over the nine days of opening, and which hosts the cultural traditions of almost one hundred countries from all continents, in approximately 2800 stands. The Sardinia Region participates for the 28th consecutive time with the aim of promoting the manufacturing tradition and the quality of the island's agri-food production.
Creativity and 'know-how', identity and hospitality, peculiar and distinctive traits of the Island, are on stage in the 'global village' of Rho Fiera Milano, in pavilion 2, in an exhibition space of 900 square meters, where the Department of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Nuoro, hosts and 'accompany' 34 micro and small artisan companies, to promote and enhance the island's manufacturing tradition and the talent of its artisans.
The world's largest 'global village' of handicrafts was inaugurated last Saturday by the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, in the presence of the Minister of Public Education, Giuseppe Valditara, the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana and the Councilor for Tourism, Crafts and Commerce of the Sardinia Region, Franco Cuccureddu.
“The Artisan at the Fair – stated Councillor Cuccureddu – represents aunmissable opportunity to promote the island's artisan excellence and give impetus to the micro and small companies of a fundamental sector, which we support with sector laws, in particular with the 22 million tender of law 949, with the generational transition and with quality certifications, promotional partnership actions and structural interventions, such as the imminent relaunch of the ISOLA brand and the virtual showcase of craftsmanship. The event - he added - it is an extraordinary vehicle for communicating the 'Sardinia' product in its most authentic and genuine aspects, of their art and creativity, which are pure expression and reflection of Sardinian traditions and culture".
The protagonists are the artisans of the regional manufacturing system, capable of creating original, quality and functional products, always with an eye on tradition and identity and specialized in multiple processes: from cork, wood, ceramics, leather and hide to those who master the art of weaving, cutlery and who shape stones, wrought iron and other metals; from those who dedicate themselves to goldsmith production, coral jewelry to traditional clothing, fabrics and embroidery; up to the cosmetics and furnishing accessories sector.
Alongside the stands dedicated to artistic artisans, there are also agri-food companies, specialized in the production of cheeses, cured meats, pasta, bread, sweets, honey, nougat, wine, liqueurs, bottarga and other specialties.Visit the Sardinia stand - he concluded Franco Cuccureddu - It is an unmissable experience to discover productive realities that have preserved intact authentic and genuine aspects of an enormous traditional cultural heritage.".
During the first weekend of the event, thanks to the entertainment activities offered by the Maria Carta Foundation, the Sardinia stand was the stage for live events, with traditional dances and songs, to the ancestral sound of the launeddas.
