A year full of successes for the Museum, with over 4.350 school groups welcomed, 220 events hosted and an ever-expanding cultural heritage.

During the 2024, the National Museum of Science and Technology has welcomed 4.350 school groups, hosted 220 events, acquired 160 new goods and expanded its cultural and educational offerings through international projects.

Milano, 30 December 2024. The Museum closes the year with 315 days of opening and over 600.000 visitors, of which approx 90.000 event guests. More than 46.000 Guests participated in the activities in the interactive laboratories and guided tours during the weekend. The audience from abroad was numerous and represented the 53% of the total.

“The Museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, in 2024, with coherence and significant results, has adhered to its vision-mission: to offer everyone, through different and updated tools, a key to understanding a complex world becoming, in which Science and Technology have an increasingly central role but not divergent from the fundamental humanistic values,” declares Fiorenzo Marco Galli, General Director of the Museum.

The year just ended was also particularly significant from the point of view didactic: the school groups who visited the Museum and experienced the 165 educational paths proposed were 4.350, involving more than 630 teachers and predicting 175 total hours of training.

The cultural heritage of the Museum includes 21.600 goods, Of which 160 acquired in 2024, with 36 permanent thematic exhibitions, 14 laboratories e 3 interactive digital artworksThe proposed courses are updated in balance with digital teaching.

The news of 2024

Among the new projects completed, the following stand out:

  • The inauguration of Playlab, an educational space of 400 m² dedicated to children aged 3 to 6.
  • The launch of Lost Planetarium, The first Escape Game of the Museum, entirely playable within its more than 50.000 m².

Some key events in 2024 include:

  • The entrance to the collections of the Museum of Tram Carrelli 1928, symbol of Milano and of Italy in the world.
  • The restoration of the plaster cast of the Nike of Samothrace, hosted in the Naval Pavilion.
  • Celebrations for the 150 years since the birth of Guglielmo Marconi, with a podcast series and a volume dedicated to the Museum's historical collections.
  • Special activities for the 70th Anniversary of the K2 Summit Expedition.
  • Enriching the digital art offering with the interactive installation Kinfolk and the generative work Infinity, created by the British collective Universal Everything.

A space for events and innovation

The Museum confirms itself as one of the most prestigious places of Milano for conferences, events and cultural appointments. In 2024, have been organized over 220 events, Including:

  • The meeting with the astronaut Luke Parmitano on the occasion of 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC).
  • The first two live events of Facts to Understand, Barbara Gallavotti's project aimed at developing scientific citizenship as part of the Italian Science Media Centre.

A year of great successes, with constant growth and an ever-increasing focus on sustainability, innovation and inclusion. The National Science and Technology Museum di Milano confirms itself as a cultural and scientific point of reference, ready to face the challenges of 2025.
