The City Council has resolved: The San Siro stadium will be sold to Inter and Milan. 

The City Council of Milano approves the sale of the historic stadium to Inter and AC Milan: the new facility will be green-lighted by 2031, combining urban regeneration, inclusiveness, and anti-mafia security.

Tonight the City Council of Milano voted for the resolution of sale of the San Siro Stadium and the final green light was givenThe stadium will be sold to a special purpose vehicle set up by Inter and Milan for 197 million euros, of which 22 million will be allocated by the municipality of Milano.

In favor of selling 24 members of the majority parties, while 20 were against it, among them the councilors of the League, Brothers of Italy, and Us Moderates.

The sale would not have taken place if Forza Italia had not abstained, breaking the "no" block formed by the opposition. The centre-left needed 25 votes to approve the resolution, but due to some PD councilors who voted against, the sides found themselves in a stalemate. Following FI's withdrawal, however, the "yes" front only had to collect 24 votes instead of 25, guaranteeing the victory of the center-left.

Regarding the issue, the President of the Senate La Russa declared: “Yesterday Forza Italia, on the stadium in Milano, broke the front in the wrong way, in my opinion, in the manner rather than in the substance, but in the manner certainly".

Finally, it was established that the board would manage the funds generated by the sale.

The deed must be signed by November 10th, when the constraint on the second ring will be triggered. It is expected that the new stadium will be built by 2031, while San Siro will be gradually demolished.

Meanwhile, Inter and Milan have disclosed some details about the new structure: “The new plant, included in an urban regeneration project of approximately 281 thousand square meters, in the name of innovation and sustainability, will have a capacity of 71.500 seats and will offer an unparalleled atmosphere, structured on two large rings with an inclination designed to guarantee spectators a optimal visibility from every sector. It will also comply with the highest accessibility criteria, ensuring a range of experiences dedicated to all fans and the availability of affordable sectors”
