Postal Police operation: two men arrested in Turin and Salerno for possession of child pornography.

The investigation, started from Milano, led to seven searches in various Italian cities. Illegal videos and photos were seized. The two arrested, aged 46 and 77, were caught red-handed.

La State Police Milano arrested two men aged 46 and 77, respectively resident in Turin and Salerno, cultured in flagrante delicto for possession of child pornography material produced through the exploitation of minors.

The operation, complex and of national scope, was conducted by Cyber ​​Security Operations Center (COSC) of the Postal Police of Milano and is the follow-up to a previous investigation launched by the Sondrio Cybersecurity Operations Section.

The latter, last January, had already led to the arrest of a former high school teacher, accused of possession and distribution of child pornography material online.

Seven searches across Italy

On the basis of the new elements collected, the Public Prosecutor's Office Milano has arranged seven searches against the same number of suspects residing in Florence, Genoa, Naples, Turin, Prato, Salerno, and Terni.

The activities were carried out in collaboration with the offices of the Postal and Communications Police of Lombardy, Piedmont, Campania, Tuscany and Umbria, in a large-scale joint operation against the online child sexual exploitation.

During the searches, the officers have inspected numerous electronic devices, including computers, smartphones and hard drives, finding illegal files, photos and videos depicting minors, even at a very young age.

They also emerged computer traces which confirm a constant and systematic search for child pornography material through the web and anonymous sharing circuits.

The operation, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, was made possible thanks to the use of innovative digital tools and techniques of advanced cyber investigation.

The specialists of the Cyber ​​Security Operations Center they analyzed in real time networks, IP and data flows which made it possible to trace those responsible and precisely identify the places to be searched.

According to what has emerged, the two arrested were acting in closed and encrypted virtual contexts, sharing illegal material with a small network of Italian and foreign users.

The investigative activity of the Postal Police has brought to light a phenomenon that crosses regional borders, with branches in several Italian cities.

The investigators, in coordination with the Competent district attorneys' offices, investigations are continuing to identify any other subjects involved or connected to digital platforms used for the exchange of illicit material.
