Milano lights up Christmas 2025: over 30 light installations and the Christmas Tree Milano Cortina 2026 in Piazza Duomo

The program “Christmas in” was presented at Palazzo Marino Milano 2025”: trees, lights, markets, exhibitions and initiatives throughout the city until January 6th.

Christmas 2025 in Milano It lights up with a widespread project that involves institutions, sponsors, associations and neighborhoods.

The official program was presented at Palazzo Marino “Christmas in Milano 2025 ", which will light up the city until January 6th with over thirty light installations, large Christmas trees, themed villages, markets and cultural initiatives.

The protagonist of the festive season will be the Olympic spirit: the Tree of Games, dedicated to Milano Curtain 2026, will illuminate Piazza Duomo and symbolically accompany the approaching opening ceremony of the Winter Games.

Piazza Duomo: the Games Tree of Milano Curtain 2026

The heart of the celebrations will be a 29-meter-high spruce, coming from Dimaro Folgarida (Trento), decorated with 100.000 microLEDs, pearl spheres and the graphic vibes of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The official lighting will take place Saturday 6 December at 18pm.

Around the tree is born the Christmas village powered 100% by renewable energy, supported by TCL, Worldwide Olympic Partner. An immersive journey dedicated to Olympic and Paralympic values, athletes' stories, and the promotion of sport.

The Gallery dresses in red with the Lenovo Emotion Tree and art4sport Onlus

La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II will light up red with the project “Lenovo Emotion Tree”, created by Lenovo and the Lenovo Foundation in support of art4sport Onlus, the association founded by the Paralympic champion Bebe Vio Grandis.
An installation dedicated to inclusion, solidarity, and sharing.

Trees and lights in neighborhoods: over 30 projects throughout the city

Each project in the historic centre is accompanied by an initiative in one of the neighbourhoods of Milano: a way to extend the magic of Christmas even to the most peripheral areas.

Christmas trees present in: Cathedral Square, Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, Scala Square, Cordusio Square, Merchants Square, San Carlo Square, San Babila Square, Giordano Square, Via Croce Rossa, Largo La Foppa, Piazza XXV Aprile, Gae Aulenti Square, Tre Torri Square, Breda Tower Park, Largo Mahler, Via Rovereto/Via Giacosa, Remo Cantoni Square, Tina Modotti Square, Costantino Square.

Lights spread in: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via Porpora, Via Meda, Via Mercanti and surrounding areas, Galleria San Babila, Via Spezia, Via Fontanelli, CityLife areas, Corso Buenos Aires, Porta Venezia, Viale Umbria, Via Orefici, Via Dante, Via Casoretto, Viale Zara, Viale Fulvio Testi, Via Guido d'Arezzo, Via Griffini, Viale Affori, Via Michelino da Besozzo, and many other areas.

Christmas Exhibition at Palazzo Marino: The Crivelli Polyptych

From December 3 to January 11, 2026, Sala Alessi hosts the Polyptych of Monte San Martino brothers Carlo and Vittore Crivelli: a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, composed of ten tables historically brought together for the occasion.
Free admission with guided tours by art historians.

Christmas Markets: From Oh Bej! Oh Bej! to Lombard tradition

The 2025 program offers a wide variety of markets:

  • Christmas market in Piazza Duomo (78 wooden huts, crafts and gastronomy)

  • Oh Bey! Oh Bey! (December 5–8, around the Sforza Castle)

  • Alter Bej Market (December 7–10, Bussa Overpass)

  • Garabombo Bank (fair trade, via Pagano)

  • Christmas in the Cloister (December 13–14, Diocesan Museum)

  • Market at Portello (until January 6)

The historic illuminations curated by technical sponsors and merchant associations embellish Brera, Monte Napoleone, Porta Romana, Navigli, Zona Laghetto, Isola, Dergano, Bovisa, Affori, Lorenteggio and many other streets.

Christmas as a collective project

«Milano lights up Christmas with a joint project that unites institutions, businesses and the territory", declares the councilor Martina Riva.

Thanks to the sponsors' contributions, the initiatives do not entail costs for the Municipality and involve every part of the city.

Nevio Devidé, Chief Revenue Officer of Milano Cortina 2026, underlines the symbolic value of theTree of Games, capable of creating connection and belonging between citizens, sport and tradition.
