Milano, December 6, 2025 – The magic of Christmas officially came to life this afternoon in Piazza Duomo, where the large 29-metre-high tree dedicated, for the third and final year, to the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Curtain 2026.
A moment eagerly awaited by Milanese and visitors, which inaugurates the vast programme of the Christmas of the Trees 2025, the Municipality's initiative that brings light installations, thematic decorations and artistic projects throughout the city.

The tree, a majestic spruce from Dimaro Folgarida (Trento), it grew in a stream bed and was removed for road safety reasons. Now it stands tall in front of the cathedral, illuminating the heart of Milano with over 100.000 microLEDs, pearly white spheres decorated with the Olympic and Paralympic emblems and the iconic “5 vibes”, the graphic vibrations that make up the official look of the Games Milano Cortina 2026 .
On the summit a great shines again bright snowflake, already admired in previous editions.

A project in the name of the circular economy
This year too, the Games Tree confirms its strong commitment to sustainability:
- la basis of the installation is reused for the seventh year;
- il ferrule is reused for the third year;
- at the end of the holidays, the tree will be transformed into wooden boards and planks from National Consortium for the Furniture System and intended for the social carpentry of the Monza Prison, where it will become new artifacts.
Olympic Christmas Village: A Journey Across Five Continents
Around the tree rises the Christmas Village of the Games, organized by TCL, a global partner of the Olympic Movement. It is an immersive and interactive space, conceived as a symbolic journey through the five continents represented by the Olympic Rings.
Thematic installations, experiential activities, and messages dedicated to peace, inclusion, and sport transform Piazza Duomo into a meeting place for cultures, emotions, and collective hope.
The energy used for the village comes from 100% from renewable sources .
The ceremony was attended by institutional and sports representatives:
- Martina Riva, Councillor for Sport and Tourism of the Municipality of Milano;
- Marco Alparone, vice president of the Lombardy Region;
- Nevio Devidè, Chief Revenue Officer of the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026;
- Carlos Li, CEO of TCL Europe;
- athletes Martina Caironi e Enrico Fabris, symbols of the Italian Paralympic and Olympic movement.
A widespread Christmas: 19 trees and 32 illuminated streets throughout Milano
In addition to the tree in Piazza Duomo, Milano lights up with a rich range of installations created by sponsors and foundations that have joined the “Christmas of Trees” competition.
In total, 19 thematic trees e 32 vie decorated with lights through 15 sponsors will bring a festive atmosphere to central and peripheral neighborhoods.

For the first time the Gallery lights up in red in a project in support of the association art4sport, founded by Bebe Vio, with a strong message of inclusion. - Piazza della Scala – Lumen Your Christmas (La Nordica – Extraflame)
A tree that combines contemporary design and tradition, with an “urban flame” symbolizing shared warmth. - Piazza Mercanti – This tree doesn't make a scene. It does research (AIRC and Banco BPM)
A symbolic installation supporting pediatric cancer research: for every donation, 63 lights are turned on, equal to the number of projects funded by AIRC in 2025. - Piazza San Carlo – A Christmas to Write Together (Ferrero Rocher)
A golden pyramid of balls customizable with a calligrapher: a project that combines elegance and craftsmanship. - Piazza San Babila – The Beauty of Christmas (L'Oréal Paris)

The lights: from Corso Buenos Aires to Via Dante, Milano shines
Among the 32 illuminated streets, the following stand out:
- Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, illuminated by the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026 and TCL, in continuity with the Olympic theme;
- Buenos Aires course e Porta Venezia, transformed into a luminous corridor by Enel;
- Goldsmiths Street e Grazioli Street, with LEGO installations;
- Dante Street, theatre of the project Stranger Christmas signed by Netflix, which recalls the glitch aesthetics and atmospheres of the series Stranger Things .
Each installation tells a different story of the city, its identities, and its ability to reinvent Christmas with creativity and inclusion.
