Monza, 31 July 2024. A collaboration to optimize interventions in the field of safety and fight against degradation, in addition to sharing proposals and designs to improve the territorial and road inclusion of new infrastructure works, including the extension of the metropolitan lines and interconnections of the A52 northern ring road Milano.

The cities of Monza and Cinisello Balsamo signed an agreement this morning to jointly address a number of common issues, mainly focused on land management, safety and traffic in the border areas between the two cities.

Security and environmental policing. Among the issues on the agenda are thechronic abandonment of waste in the border areas between the two cities, particularly in the areas of via Edison and the presence of abandoned areas: the Local Police commands are therefore committed to carrying out integrated control services, capable of optimizing the resources available and making the law enforcement and monitoring activities more effective phenomena.

The joint use of technological equipment such as drones, camera traps and viewers is being studied: the Commands will identify suitable actions to share effective operational and logistical lines through a common working table.

Finally, on the subject of safety, the two Municipalities have agreed to start the activities necessary for the signing of a specific Local Safety Pact, which contains the regulation of operational exemptions so that the Local Police can operate beyond municipal borders, involving the Prefectures of Monza and Milano. The objective remains the promotion of joint actions to reduce the areas where degradation and illegality are concentrated, in line with security policies at regional level.

Sharing and co-planning on mobility. Both Municipalities are committed to establish periodic discussion tables to monitor the progress of public works of supra-municipal importance in terms of mobility: particular attention will be paid to compliance with timetables and the impacts of the various construction sites on local roads.

Among the main works cited are extension and construction of stops for the M5 metro line and collaboration in the analysis of projects linked to the development of the motorway network, with particular reference to the A52 North Ring Road of Milano, while maintaining decision-making autonomy based on territorial competences.

The two Municipalities will also share the results of the analyzes on vehicle flows in the sections that delimit the border areas, as well as analyze issues relating to local public transport and they will discuss ideas and proposals to improve traffic in border areas, also collaborating in the search for funds to finance mobility projects, including any joint planning.

The comparison tables. The tables provided for by the agreement are of three categories: a political table made up of Mayors and Councillors competent, to address strategic issues; stable technical tables on the specific topics of the agreement, involving the Local Police Commanders and the Managers responsible for Mobility e intersectoral technical tables for specific problems which require joint intervention as indicated by the political table.

“Working on contiguous and densely urbanized areas like ours requires us to think together, in search of the best solutions capable of responding to the many needs of citizens both in terms of prevention and supervision and supervision. We are also committed to studying and evaluating the impacts of the major mobility works planned and their inclusion, in order to manage mobility flows in a conscious and shared way also from an inter-provincial perspective", explained the Mayor of Monza Paolo Pilotto.

“The agreement will allow us to implement shared strategies and synergistic interventions to address common issues more effectively, also in view of the projects that will affect our territories. An example of virtuous and far-sighted collaboration between public administrations", declared the Mayor of Cinisello Balsamo Giacomo Ghilardi.
