Lombardy, Health. Councilor Riccardo Pase: “also promote PET in the territory for early prevention”.
“There are very advanced but still not widely used diagnostic technologies, such as PET, or “Positron Emission Tomography”, which allow us to detect functional metabolic alterations with high specificity, allowing for early diagnosis and timely intervention in treatment”. Thus, regional councilor Riccardo Pase, member of the Health Commission, presents an Order of the Day to the Regional Budget, of which he is also the first signatory, which commits the council to promote awareness campaigns on the importance of early diagnosis and on the role of PET in prevention pathways for oncological, neurological and cardiac pathologies.
“The use of PET in secondary prevention pathways, – explains Pase – it can also significantly improve the effectiveness of screening for certain pathologies such as malignant tumors and neurodegenerative diseases. This is why it is necessary to encourage the use and diffusion of PET as a means of prevention and diagnosis, and collaboration between ASSTs, private companies and competent bodies will also be essential, also promoting the training of medical personnel on the use of this technology.
Through this agenda, voted unanimously by the council chamber during the session dedicated to the Budget, the council is therefore committed to promoting its diffusion and the strengthening of this technology in the territory".
“Prevention is one of the fundamental pillars of health policies in line with the Lombardy social and health plan and the adoption of innovative tools such as PET - Regional Councillor Riccardo Pase – is part of the objectives of promoting advanced and accessible healthcare for all”.
