Capital of Culture 2027, President Bucci: “two Ligurian cities among the ten finalists, Savona and La Spezia pride of Liguria”

After the presentation of La Spezia as a candidate for the Italian capital of Culture, which took place on Tuesday 25th, yesterday it was Savona's turn: both are among the ten finalist cities for the prestigious title.

A tandem presentation, in the presence of the mayors and representatives of the territory who illustrated their vision and projects and valorized their cultural heritage.

"The fact that two Ligurian cities are among the ten finalists to win the title of Italian Capital of Culture is a source of pride for the entire region. Liguria is particularly attentive to the cultural development of its territory, and focuses on this also from a tourist perspective – explained the president Marco Bucci and the regional councilor Simona Ferro – With both cities we discussed and shared the themes and objectives of two candidacies that grew from the bottom up and, thanks to the contribution of groups and associations, have established themselves to the point of being among the ten finalists. Both cities in our territory have placed their maritime vocation and their cultural heritage at the center, promoting collaboration between institutions, associations and businesses. For this reason, We are certain of the value of these candidatures and we hope that they can be appreciated, because the recognition of a Municipality is a prestige for the entire region and a reason for vitality for the entire territory".

The proclamation of the Italian Capital of Culture will take place by March 28, 2025.
